One Minute At a Time

I am a working single mom with an 8 and 6 year old at home. It always feels like once November hits, the fast forward button is hit and the rush to be everything and do everything increases 10 fold. But it doesn’t have to. Finding the time to be still is essential for your soul to rest in the Lord.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Allowing time to sit, be present and be in His presence is medicine like no other. He is comforter, healer, giver of peace if only we would take the time to be with Him.

As we begin to enter the holiday season, this can feel like a big ask, but the reward is so great! Two years ago, I was walking through the holidays broken-hearted at the death of my 17 year old son. Every day felt like a nightmare as I awoke to the realization that it wasn’t. The best choice I could make for my grieving heart and for my family is to take it one minute at time, sometimes one second at a time. It was those times where I just felt empty that I would sit and listen to the Lord in the words of the Psalms.

Psalm 62 5-8

” Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
    my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God[c];
    he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
    pour out your hearts to him,
    for God is our refuge.”

Psalm 34: 18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”

Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall”

His loving word will always comfort and sustain you. Spend time with Him. He longs for you to be in His loving presence.

Peace and Comfort,
